At the end of the book, there is background given on how Owly came to be. It describes how Owly evolved over the years and how close is Owly to the author. It makes this series all the more special.

I would say these books are apt for people of all ages. With the right experience and understanding or with an adult's help, this book is great for kids of all ages.
