The Yellow Bus

09/13/2024

This is a magnificent poignant read for this year's back-to-school/starting school season!

Title: The Yellow Bus

Author / Illustrator: Loren Long

Publisher: Roaring Brook Press / Macmillan

A yellow bus is driving through the town, spending every day on the road, driving for someone or the other. First, the bus takes kids to school. Eventually, the kids grow older, and now the bus is shown as taking older adults. However, after a while, the bus is unable to drive itself and it is used by people in winter to keep themselves warm. Even later in life, the bus is towed to a farm where goats climb and play. In all these cases, the bus is happy that it can make someone or the other happy with the little bit it can do. Unfortunately, a sudden flooding of the valley causes the bus to be submerged under water. But, even then, the yellow bus serves the colorful fishes in the river and becomes happy thinking that even at this moment, it was able to serve someone!

Such a vital lesson, very essential in the current day world.

📚 Stunning illustrations with mostly blacks and whites, and the yellow bus popping out.

📚 This is a story of making a difference in someone's life, even just for a brief moment by showing kindness.

📚 Perfect for kids ages 3+
