In this story, Hedgie, the curious hedgehog, plans not to hibernate inside his burrow during winter, because, he doesn't want to miss all this fun. Unfortunately, the weather gets colder and Hedgie is unable to keep his eyes open. But when a snowstorm starts, Lisa has to rescue Hedgie and bring him inside the cozy house. Thanks to Lisa, now Hedgie can enjoy the frozen flowers on his window and the ice-palace-like sparkling chicken coop lying in the warmth of the house.
There are not many sentences, maybe 3-4, on every page. There are a few complex sentences that would make this book a read-aloud for beginning readers and below. The soft and bright colored illustrations have an old-fashioned feel to them, yet each image is very detailed, beautiful, and pleasing. Hedgie is absolutely adorable and is sure to steal the minds of little kids and toddlers.
