Title: The Seed of Compassion: Lessons from the Life and Teachings of His Holiness the Dalai Lama
Author: His Holiness Dalai Lama
Illustration: Bao Luu
Publisher: Puffin
Dalai Lama has shared with us the important life lessons of peace and compassion. He was born to a family of farmers, his father used to tend horses and he used to help his mother plant seeds on the farm. His mother was not able to send him to school, but she did teach him the art of being compassionate to others. His mother was very kind to their neighbors and helped them during food shortages. Even when his family was not well off, he didn't forgo his duties and passions.
As Dalai Lama says - the ability to make the world a more compassionate and kind place is within each one of us. In his opinion, children are the best possible candidates to make this change in this world. There may be bad attitudes or habits in all of us, but it won't stop us from becoming more kind human beings.
Calming illustrations and simple but powerful sentences make this book worth reading. The pictures in this book are very realistic and colorful, which would spike interest in little kids. The images also convey the simple life that Dalai Lama followed and also reflect the joy people felt just by being near him.
This book can be used as a read-aloud for toddlers and little kids so that they can understand and pursue the lessons given in this book from their very young ages. This would also be an awesome inspiring read for elementary kids. Or rather, in my opinion, all of us (adults included!) can benefit from reading this book.

Halloween is over, but it looks like we're not really done with Halloween books! This is part of a book series that never disappoints the readers.
Of late, I got to read two fascinating non-fiction books, which changed my ideology of the food and grocery industry from the roots up.
