The Littles are a family of tiny people. They could live inside the walls of a house! The Littles live in the house belonging to Mr. Bigg and his family, without their knowledge. This is because the Littles make sure that the humans in the house never see them. Another unusual thing about the Littles is that they have tails.
The Little family consists of the father, William T. Little, the mother, their son Tom, daughter Lucy, Baby Betsy, Granny & Grandpa Little (who disappeared while exploring and was found later), Uncles Nick & Pete, and a frequently visiting nephew Dinky.
The Littles procure what they need from the Biggs family, however, they repay them for example, by fixing the wiring and plumbing of the house. This helps the Biggs family from spending a fortune to repair these.
Once the Biggs family left for a vacation. Meanwhile, the Newcombs, a city couple, came to stay in the Biggs home. This made the Littles anxious as they didn't these new people. However, due to the Newcombs' terrible housekeeping habits, a new mouse population started growing in the house. Now, the Littles are only 6 inches (max) tall and a 3-inch mouse is indeed a threat for them!
Would the Newcombs do something before the Littles get hurt? Will the Littles win the battle with the mice?
