"I am different, not less." - Dr. Temple Grandin

This book is about Temple Grandin and her childhood. When she was little, other kids made fun of her because she was different. Her parents were told that she should be sent away. Her mom was dead set on helping her kid succeed in life, no matter what. It is really hard to be different in this world and there are a lot of struggles associated with this.

At first, her being different was seen as a result of brain damage, but later it was discovered that she was autistic. With this comes, delayed speech, sensory challenges, and difficult emotions. This led to her moving to a farm to live with her relatives since school in the city was becoming more and more difficult for her. This ignited her love of science, experiments, and discoveries.

"She never gave up, learned her stuff through and through, like why cattle will circle and what makes them MOOOOoooooo. To build better farms was her goal — she would do it. 'Be KIND to our creatures. They have FEELINGS!' She knew it."

Temple has never looked back since! She is an Animal Scientist and has a Bachelor's in Psychology and a Master's and Ph.D. in Animal Science. She is a top-notch public speaker too!

So, now, this biography is also the story of a girl who became everything for animals and a great inspiration to the entire world, especially to those who were told they didn't quite fit in this world. In essence, this book encourages kids who feel they are different (whether autistic or not) to be strong and to promote their differences as their strengths.
