Grumpy Monkey Don't Be Scared
Halloween is over, but it looks like we're not really done with Halloween books! This is part of a book series that never disappoints the readers.
This delightful book is very much along the lines of the "Nevermoor" series, I feel. If you like dragons, wizards, magic, castles, spells, and of course, a cat, then you have selected the right book.
This story is about twelve-year-old Faye Gardener, the daughter of the groundskeeper. The Wizard of the West is dead, and Faye has to make herself bold enough to tell the Wizard this fact. She courageously converses with the Wizard's ghost, however, the Wizard is horrified to learn that he had passed away in his sleep and there was no apprentice in place. Since he was no longer able to renew the foundation spells that kept the castle Celurdur standing, he decided to stick around until he found his heir before the next full moon. Who will be chosen?
The castle and the inhabitants are in grave danger as the castle is about to collapse after the Wizard dies with no successor. Faye is very dedicated to the castle and does everything she can to help the Wizard - casting quiet spells, keeping the sleeping dragon content, etc. Additionally, the Shadow Queen, has seemingly scared all the male wizards and they are not ready to select a girl as their apprentice now!
Who will be the successor of the Wizard??? Will Faye be able to save the castle from destruction?
Read and find out!
