Grumpy Monkey Play All Day
Everyday chores are all mundane, however, playing or spending your entire time having fun, is not!
Parker is a 12-year-old boy who loves his adoptive family's Home Away Inn in coastal Maine - it is named Spruce Point. This house has been with them for generations and Parker doesn't want to lose it. But, their financial situation and the rising sea levels are threatening the coastal inn. The business at the inn has been dull lately too.

Parker has had many fun adventures with his friend Frankie and other cousins in this house and the nearby old treehouse. They even used to have their official Kids Confidential Meetings in this treehouse.
Parker is pretty much convinced that a ghost has placed a curse on this inn and the treehouse since they have started finding unusual things left in these places. The kids also suspect that their grouchy neighbor Mrs. Gruvlig is a witch and Frankie is dead sure that she had seen a ghost in Mrs. Gruvlig's yard. And, what are those floating green blobs of light in the cove???
Friendship and feeling of family are two main takeaways from this story as Parker gets reunited with his friends for confidential meetings. This gives the feel of a realistic ghostly fiction. In my opinion, this is a gentle ghost story and doesn't have too scary incidents. But, this doesn't make it boring and it still keeps us anxious enough to turn the pages.
This would be an awesome middle-grade read with an equal amount of fun, adventure, reality, and supernatural delights.
