10/27/2023

Amelia and her younger brother are cleaning out their grandmother's attic when they find a worn-out book. It has the due date card on it and so, Amelia takes it to the library to return it. However, the librarian denies seeing such a book in their records.

Overcome by curiosity, Amelia sits down to read the book. As she reads, she doesn't seem to understand the passing of time. When she finishes the book, she finds herself alone in the library which has been locked up for the night. Amelia slowly starts panicking when she starts to notice different story elements coming to life around her. Are the stories in the book becoming reality?

The author cleverly intertwines both the real life and the book life of Amelia, with detailed supernatural horror elements.

The book certainly lives up to its title and horror lovers won't be disappointed at all. I would say this is more toward the middle-grade level or rather grades 5-8. This would be suited only to people who love reading horror and supernatural stories.
