The King in this story has a son (prince) and 3 daughters (princesses). When the castle is overrun by alligators, the King declares that this is a job for the King and rejects the repeated requests by the princesses that they may be able to do it for the King. But, the princesses were determined. Eventually, the three princesses start falling asleep during the day. Something seems fishy and the King sends the prince to investigate. However, all the alligators have gotten out of the moat and are all over the castle. In reality, the princesses are spending their nights, without the knowledge of the King, planning, sketching, and engineering a contraption that can get the alligators back to the moat.
