A beautiful heartfelt story about All Souls' Day, a day to remember our loved ones who have passed away. This is a story about loss and grief associated with it, and the togetherness and support of people which brings comfort in such hard times.
Every year on All Souls' Day, Mara and her grandparents (Popi and Nene) visit those homes in their neighborhood who have lost a loved one and sang a song commemorating the departed soul. This would bring solace and peace to that family, and then they move on to the next family in the neighborhood, and so on.
However, this year, sadly, Mara and her grandma have lost Popi! Still, Mara and her grandma continue the tradition that Popi had started on All Souls' Day. In spite of the absence of grandpa, Mara and her grandma visit all the houses who have lost a loved one and comfort them with their songs. Mara wonders why they must carry on this ritual still, now that Popi is not alive and aren't they the ones grieving this year?
What do you think? Is Mara's thoughts correct?
📚 A powerful lesson - sometimes the greatest comfort can be had when comforting others!
📚 Stunning illustrations perfectly suiting the mood and the story.
