Lupita, a young girl, and her family are expecting a hurricane touchdown in their area. Everyone in her community is preparing to protect themselves. She is worried and fearful that something bad is going to happen.
Suddenly, Lupita discovers a pair of baby doves who are unable to care for themselves or seek shelter. Lupita looks around for their mother but is not able to. She decides to keep the birds safe in a small nest and stays inside a closet with her family.
Though the storm was frightening, Lupita and her family passed the time by playing games and music and making cupcakes. After the storm settles down, Lupita and her family, help the neighborhood clean up.

📚 The fear of devastation during natural calamities is real, and the author/illustrator captures the emotions of the community people so well. The emotions are given off to the readers extremely gently and very appropriately.
