Grumpy Monkey Don't Be Scared
Halloween is over, but it looks like we're not really done with Halloween books! This is part of a book series that never disappoints the readers.
This is the first book in this series and this is a story about a young girl Kalamata and her assistant Al Dente, an alligator.
Kalamata is nervous about the first day of school.
However, she thinks about the times when she felt brave, like during her travel to India when she and Al Dente visited the spice market and tried new foods, without knowing what they would taste like! Kalamata badly wants to gain her bravery back. So, she and Al Dente climb under her kitchen table (which is magical) and they get transported to the place they wanted to be… yes, they are in the spice market. Kalamata feels brave and decides that since the food and flavors inspire her, she will be able to connect with the kids in the school by using food as a medium.
It is very inspiring and motivational to see that the young girl, when she feels scared and nervous, thinks back of a time when she had been bold and tried out new things. Her memories of such amazing adventures makes her feel braver and stronger since she has thought about something which had been very important to her. This inspiration drives her forward in moments and places when she feels nervous and scared.
