A wonder of a picture book! I would say this book is a treasure - astounding illustrations and realistic life lessons!

Two-time Caldecott Honor recipient Marla Frazee has come up with a book depicting the celebration of birth and life in everyone's lives. This book shows that in everyone's life, there are good times and bad times, wins and losses, and happy and sad moments. Your life can bring you extremely happy situations and really challenging circumstances, from the time you are a baby until you are old. This is all part of everyone's life.
The book's format is very simple and has pages with comforting text and gorgeous paintings. Beneath each text, there is a depiction of families. Like, for example, on the "birth" pages, there are beautifully illustrated images of parents, grandparents, and siblings welcoming newborns. Some pages show the depth of human emotions, feelings, and expressions, like sadness, pain, and love. The author does find room for humor too, for instance, there is a page with images of two people with a kite checking the sky for wind and a child on the potty.
This book is suited and enjoyable for both kids and adults. Hats off to the extraordinary illustrations which are colorful and detailed - these would comfort readers of all ages.
