Even when the Chicken is really "cranky", the worm is determined to make their friendship work and eventually, they become BFFs. The worm doesn't force the Chicken to change her crankiness at all, the worm accepts the Chicken as is.
Speedy, the worm also makes the Cranky Chicken understand that "being not cranky" means "being happy". Finally, the Cranky Chicken realizes that having a best friend is a lot of fun!
The simple illustrations are very delightful and fun. The pictures have a lot of emotions packed in them. The text in the story is very short which befits the beginning readers. The story is hilarious at the same time very heart-warming.
The worm is always very happy but the Chicken has a very introverted personality. The story also teaches us the importance of positive thinking and how to accept others' personalities.
