Aru is a girl who lies a lot, not the typical middle grader! She spends her holidays at home, unlike her friends, with her mother in the Museum of Ancient Indian Art and Culture. Aru was told to never light a particular lamp that was on display, but she does it anyway. This is when three of Aru's classmates show up at her doorstep and call her a liar!
This lamp, if lighted, would wake up the Sleeper from his sleep, and that in turn, would awaken the Lord of Destruction, who would end the world. Aru and Mini (Aru's soul sister) need to do something to stop this from happening.
The adventures of Aru and Mini start here... during which they decipher that they are the rebirths of the Pandava brothers (from the epic The Mahabharata), they execute demons and even shop at the Night Bazaar! They need to save their loved ones on the Earth on time. They have to find the 3 keys in order to open the treacherous Door of Death from where they would get weapons for their adventurous journey.
If you like mythology and fantasy, this would be an excellent read. This story is suited for middle graders or even upper-level elementary kids.
