Rosa's family is poor and has undergone a terrible loss because of a devastating fire that has left her family with absolutely no belongings. But, even at this stage, it should be considered a wonderful blessing that none of the family members suffered any injuries in this incident. 

Many of the neighbors were very kind enough to help Rosa's family with whatever they could. In spite of the grave loss, Rosa and her family, including her grandmother, save every coin they can, in order to buy a new chair for their home. After all their hard work and perseverance, they buy a comfy new chair for their new apartment. 

A story that tells us the importance of strong determination, perseverance, hard work, responsibility, and the concept of saving money. This also gives us a strong sense of family, togetherness, and community. 

The book has detailed and colorful painting-like illustrations that keep us engaged in the story. This book could be used as a read-aloud for little kids because, in my opinion, they should understand the reality of life and terrible situations that may occur, from early childhood days onwards. This would be a perfect read for higher-level elementary and middle-grade kids as well.
